Match to sample

Worked on strengthening McKee’s verbal cues. In the past I have used the cue “touch” when asking McKee to put his nose on an item. I have decided to change that cue to the word “target,” so I am observing the protocol of introducing a new cue, followed by the old cue, then clicking and treating.

I want to continue to use the word “touch” for my hand targeting action so I am complicating this process a bit. I tested the hand-touch cue just a couple of times and he is getting the difference fairly quickly, but last night I still mainly focused on introducing the word “target” as the new cue.

About clickertraininghorses - Peggy Hogan

I teach people and train horses using positive reinforcement. The horses I work with are given choice, the freedom to volunteer behavior. The joy is that they strive to volunteer what works for both of us.
